Beginners Spinning and Kids Kraft

Beginners Spinning January 10 & 24

Have you ever wondered what it is like to create your own yarn? We are very excited to offer this new 2 session class and share our love of spinning. Learn the basics of creating your own yarn starting with familiarity with the wheel, to working with roving and batts, tension, drafting fiber, plying, and then finishing your own skein of yarn. We will touch on the differences between our 3 favorite groups of natural fibers: alpaca, sheep's wool, and mohair, and give you the basic tools to get started on this very rewarding adventure. This is a 2 session class. Each session will last about 3 hours. The use of one of our spinning wheels is offered to those students who do not currently own a wheel. All materials included in class fee of $110. Pre-registration is required to take this class. Call today to sign up.

There will be a homework assignment which needs to be completed before the second session. This will give you an opportunity to relax behind the wheel and find your spinning groove. Wheels will be available for use at Long Tail Knits to complete your assignment if you do not own your own wheel. Please call Jeannine (234-808-4383) to make arrangements for use of a wheel.
